QAvimator pre pre pre alpha

Zi Ree has created a Qt3 port of Avimator (currently using FLTK - ewww!). Full details of the port (and instructions for downloading and compiling) can be found on the Avimator forum, or if you're feeling brave you can just go straight for the Source / Homepage.

Avimator Site Back

After a recent period of downtime, the Avimator website is back online, not much info there for now, but it looks hopeful, fingers crossed we get a new version with some bug fixes soon!

Avimator is avatar animation software for Secondlife, allowing the creation of poses and keyframed character animations and saves you buying Poser :)

SL LUG 21st June : Hacks & Magic

The next meeting of the SL LUG will take place on Wednesday 21st June, 12pm SLT (8pm BST, 9pm CET) at Maryport (182,150) (Find -> Events -> check upcoming -> search for 'Linux').

SL Hacks & Scripts

Topic for discussion is 'SL Hacks & Scripts', so, try out some of the scripts the community has come up with and share your experiences at the next meeting. Some good scripts to start you off include :

irc.freenode.com #secondlifelug

We have registered an IRC channel on freenode for the the SL LUG members. We felt it appropriate that the LUG get a separate channel as we intend on looking at streaming chat from inworld SL LUG meetings to the channel (May provide good way for people to listen in on the meeting, if they are unable to attend in person). If you join us on the channel, please register your nick.

Discuss the upcoming meeting, or anything related to the SL LUG on the SL Forum : SL LUG 21st June : Hacks & Magic.

The next meeting of the SL LUG will take place on Wednesday 14th June, 12pm SLT (8pm BST, 9pm CET) at Maryport (182,150) (Find -> Events -> check upcoming -> search for 'Linux').

Nothing planned for this week, just a chance to chew the fat, catch up with any new issues affecting Linux users. Maybe do a little show and tell if anyone is willing :)

Discuss the upcoming meeting, or anything related to the LUG on the SL Forum : SL LUG 14th June.

Last Meeting : Karen Linden Spills the Bean

Following on from last Wednesday's very successful SL LUG meeting (SL LUG 7th June : Meeting Karen Linden) you can find a full unedited transcript on the SL Forum : Chat log of June 07 2006 LUG Meeting with Karen Linden. Thanks again to Zi Ree for this.

Wine 0.9.15 - Alpha Transpareny Fixed !!

An update for Wine has come through, essential for those times the Linux SL client isn't up to the job. It's still as crashy as ever for me, but is worth getting as it finally fixes the alpha transparency issues! The appearance editor will no longer eat your favourite outfits!

Linux 1.10.2.2

Another Wednesday, another update - Only this time its solid gold!! Latest SL client is rock solid stable, good framerates, all the usual bugs remain but at least we can get back to running native. Grab it from the usual place.

Idle Times - #secondlifelinux

Jim Bunderfeld has sorted us out with our very own IRC channel - #secondlifelinux on irc.EnterTheGame.com

SL LUG 7th June : Meeting Karen Linden

The next meeting of the SL LUG will take place on Wednesday 7th June, 12pm SLT (8pm BST, 9pm CET) at Maryport (182,150) (Find -> Events -> check upcoming -> search for 'Linux').

I will update this post with details of the second later SL LUG meeting once I have spoken to Drake Bacon.

Meeting Karen Linden
Karen Linden (Dev. Program Manager) will be coming to the 12:00 Meeting to have a chat about the current state and future of the Linux client (W0000T!) Thanks to Zi Ree for organising

We are wanting to put a short list of questions together and get them over to Karen in advance of the meeting. So, if you have a question please post it in this thread on the SL Forum : SL LUG 7th June : Meeting Karen Linden, the LUG officers (Currently myself and Zi Ree) will go through and pick a handfull of the best ones. If you want to stand a good chance of your question being picked, please make it a good one

Just a reminder, the LUG is a friendly meeting place and the grounds are open to everybody and anybody at anytime - So if you want to get together and chat inworld (and save the group chat) please feel free to use the LUG.

Linux Client 1.10.1.0

Well, another Wednesday came, and at the 11th hour an updated Linux client was released. Initial reports have been patchy, it seems more stable than 1.10.0.32 but still crashes hard with the same errors. At least we seem to be getting a little Linden involvement now - SL Forum : 1.10.1 Released!.
